Comparisons

Remember how I said I didn't take very many pictures when I was pregnant with Carson? Well this next picture was taken at 34 weeks and is the last picture we took of me being pregnant with Carson. So once again I decided to see the comparisons of the two pregnancies side by side.
I think I look a lot bigger this time around! Plus I've already dropped with this baby so maybe thats the reason why I look so much bigger. At any rate its been fun comparing the pregnancies, but for the most part its been pretty much the same. I do think this baby is a little more active then Carson was, but not by much. Plus looking at the ultrasounds I think they are going to look the exact same. I might just have Carson 2 in there (my friends little girl even thinks I should name the baby Carson 2).

At my ultrasound appointment today he is currently weighing in at 5 lbs 14 ounces and already has some hair. Aren't ultrasounds amazing? They can see absolutely everything!
Don't his checks and lips look adorable? Just 4 1/2 more weeks (but hopefully less)!

The Rains came down and the Floods came up

The old primary song keeps popping into my head when I think about our weekend.  We had one crazy monsoon on Friday.  We live next to a wash ( a wash is a dry riverbed most of the year, but it serves as a major flood control system when there are torrential downpours) and I have never seen it full until that night.  We watched as the river got higher and higher until it was too dark to see.  Finally the rain stopped and we thought everything was ok so we went to bed.  It wasn't until Saturday morning when we woke up that we saw all the damage it did.  Apparently the flood gate broke due to a fallen tree and this was the result.

Our poor newly finished side yard:

Our front yard:  Luckily our HOA is responsible for the clean up of our front yard so we don't have to worry about that.
The cleanup:  The neighbors across from us got a foot of mud into their homes.  This is our HOA clearing out their driveway.  They had to tear out their carpet, and who knows how much damage it caused, and they don't have flood insurance.  I fell so bad, and yet fortunate that it only affected our yard.

Monday:  Watching the tractors clear all the fallen trees from the wash, before the next rain storm hits.

The wash is now only an inch below our fence so if it rains even an inch the water will flood our yard again.  I spoke with the HOA today and they said for now they are just doing short term fixes like clearing out the broken trees, but they are having a contractor come out to see what needs to be done to make a more permanent fix so that this doesn't happen again.  Until then we are probably going to get some sand bags and pray that it doesn't rain (although even as I'm typing this I can hear thunder).

May we never forget

Do you remember where you were? Of course you do. Everyone remembers. It's something you never forget. I remember first hearing it on the radio driving to school. It was when the first plane hit, and I thought "how can someone be so dumb to fly a plane into a building" I know it was a horrible thought, but really thats the first thing that came into my mind. Then I walked into my first period class, AP Psychology, and saw on the TV that both towers had now been hit. The realization that this was no accident, that this was purposefully planned, began to sank in. Our whole class then watched in horror as the towers fell. The rest of the day is a blur, but I do remember walking through the halls at school and hearing people worrying that we were now going to war.

It changed our lives that day. Our generation is now marked by that. For years after September 11, 2001 our country united and we had a sense of Patriotism. You could hear a pin drop while the national anthem was song at a sports game. Everyone took their hats off and placed their hands over their hearts. We SHOUTED the words "One Nation Under GOD" while saying the pledge of allegiance. Now 10 years later I fear that we have forgotten and it saddens me when I hear of a College in Indiana ban the "Star- Spangled Banner" at their school or schools not doing the pledge of allegiance, because they don't want to offend religions who do not believe in God.

Our nation has felt so divided the past few years, and today while watching the different broadcasts on TV about September 11, 2001 I felt that our nation is remembering, and hopefully it will bring back the feeling of patriotism and unity.

I have not forgotten.

Tied

For Young Women's we had a mother daughter activity titled "Tied together in Love" which evolved around everything "tied". We wore tie dyed shirts, had Thi food, tied a quilt, and made pretzels that were tied. It was really cute and since I don't have a daughter I brought my little man (plus I had too since Brad had class), but don't we look cute in our matching shirts?

Labor Day

For Labor Day we went to Flagstaff to meet our new nephew/cousin Mason. As always it was great to see family plus get away from the heat.

Carson and little Mason (he's just a week old!)
Our little pool buddies. The boys. Carson loved playing with all of his aunts and uncles. I just wish I would have gotten a picture with all us girls. We also went to the county fair and saw the animals.
And we of course had to ride the train. Wanna see how big I'm getting? This picture makes me look huge!
See? Look how happy he is! He is my little train fanatic. And last but not least, the Clark grandchildren. We are excited to add one more to the bunch in just another month!
