Monster in the Closet

Carson and his friend Jude ran downstairs saying there was a monster in the closet.  We thought the boys were just playing, but sure enough they were right, there was a monster in Carson's closet.  In fact it was Carson's old Halloween costume, and it was just the perfect fit for Tanner.  Although it is not Halloween I couldn't resist putting the costume on Tanner, and it brought a flood of memories of when Carson wore it.  Thats the thing with having two boys.  When Tanner grows into Carson's old clothes and Tanner wears it for the first time, I always have a flashback of when Carson was a baby and wore it.  I'm sure that thats how it will always be, and I love it.

So here's another comparison of my two boys.

9 Months

Weight: 18.2 lbs (10%)
Height: 28.75 inches (50%)

9 Months!  I can't believe how big he is getting.

Everyone comments on his super blonde hair and bright blue eyes.  He is such a handsome little fella.

Tanner has turned into a cat.  He loves to crawl to my legs and rub his head against them indicating he wants to be picked up or sometimes he'll stand and put his head between my legs also in an attempt to be held.  He has also been practicing his walking.  He loves to cruise along the furniture, walk with his toy table, and climb the stairs.  He is one very mobile guy.

He loves to play peek-a-boo.  As soon as I put him down to nap he grabs his blanket and pulls it over his face to play.  He loves to eat.  Which I'm not used to.  Carson could starve, but Tanner I feel like he's never full.

Also this past month Tanner had his first sickness.  He had a fever a couple of days and then I noticed he had Thrush (a bacteria infection inside the mouth and no it is not contagious).

He's my bright blue eyed little boy!  Just love him!

and just for fun here's one of my big boy!

Playing in the Rain

We've really enjoyed this years Monsoon season!  Carson loves playing in the rain and stomping in the puddles!  With such a dry season earlier this year this rain has been such a blessing and making everything green and beautiful.

Tanner's First Haircut!

Tanner received his first haircut!  Daddy gave him his new look and Tanner looks absolutely adorable! Tanner however did not like getting his hair cut and if he could he would have ran away.  He kept trying to swat the cutter away like it was a fly.  It was pretty hilarious to watch mostly because Tanner pulls some excellent faces.

Cousin Time

While Brad was out playing in Zions the kids and I stayed in Flagstaff to play with our cousins!  Carson and Brooklyn are best friends and love playing with each other.  We had a fun filled weekend!

We did lots of biking:

Giving hugs!  These two where such giggle monsters all weekend it was cute listening to them laugh!
 Dressing as Princesses:
We went to the Arbitarium:

 Movies and popcorn:
 had ice cream:
 Pizza at the park
 and bedtime stories

We had lots of fun playing with our cousins and for me having some girl time with Kami, although I think next time around we'll leave the kids with the dads and have a girls weekend.

Zions

At the end of June, Brad and his siblings (minus one) went to Zions National Park and hiked the Narrows.  Brad really enjoyed spending quality time with them especially doing outdoor adventure stuff.

Part of the hike involved crossing a river.

Look how deep the river got!

This is where Brad dropped my camera (not my nice one, but my old point and shoot) into the river and broke it.  The end of the hike was climbing to the top of a waterfall.

 Day 2:  Mountain Biking!

The trip was a huge success and I think its safe to say that everyone loved it and can't wait to do something like this again.

Fourth of July

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!  Its one of my favorite holidays!  Who can resist a good BBQ and fireworks?  We enjoyed our day with both.  I'm so thankful to live in this wonderful country, for my freedom, and for those who serve to protect our freedom.  God Bless America, land that I love!

Girls Camp for a Day

A couple weeks ago I had the privilege of going to girls camp!  It was only for a day, but it brought back a flood of memories of when I went to girls camp as a youth.  The church owns a campground up on Mt. Lemon that the girls go to every year.  Its very well taken care of, but that comes as no surprise since the church takes such good care of anything they own.  I went on hike day so I was able to go on a 5 mile hike with the 2nd years.  It was really pretty.  We got a good view on the other side of the mountain overlooking the San Manuel Valley.  I really wish I could have spent the whole week with the girls, or even just the night, but with two kids and a husband who left to go out of town for a week I was unable.  Maybe next year.

Here are some pics of my short but sweet day at camp.

My sweet Paige.  She is my only Mia Maid and I found out a week later she was moving.  It broke my heart, but I took her to go get a pedicure after this as a goodbye.  I'll miss her!

The awesome leaders!  Don't you love our little head piece?  As you can tell our ward color was green and our country was Ireland, so we became the Lucky Charms.
 On our 5 mile hike!
