Veterans Day

For Veterans day Carson's school hosted a breakfast for all the veterans to say thank you to them for their service.  One of the veterans that came was our neighbors grandfather who was an infantry medic in the Vietnam war.  He came to their class and read them a story.  He then taught them how to fold the American flag.  Carson came home that day and told me that when a solider dies, you lower the flag to honor them.  

I'm so glad that Carson had the opportunity in school to do this.  I love that he is at a school that teaches them about respecting our flag and say the pledge of allegiance everyday.  I'm thankful for all the serviceman who serve our country, and especially thankful that this veteran took time to teach my son on this very special day.

Dewberry Farms

 Last Monday our church playgroup went to Dewberry Farms for some fun!  It was a perfect fall day!  We were so fortunate, because the very next day the "Arctic blast" hit and its been cold ever since.  They had lots of cute and fun activities for the kids to do, and Tanner had an absolute blast!  He did not want to leave.

Went on a train ride and saw the pigs, corn fields, beehives, pumpkins, wildflowers, and their christmas tree fields.  In the fall you can pick their wildflowers and in the winter you can come and cut down your own tree!  How fun is that?  They were also trimming their christmas trees so it smelled of Christmas.  It was lovely.

 I feel a little guilty doing stuff like this without Carson, because I know he'd love it.  But he has school and its fun to get in my Tanner time.  

It was so much fun, we'll definitely be going again next year!

Celebrating 10 Years

Celebrated 10 years of being Brad & Emily Clark!  10 Years!  Its incredible to me that its been that long, I still remember that special day so vividly in my mind.  Yet at the same time I know it has to be, because its hard to remember my life without him.  We've been through so much and have become so intertwined that we know each others ins and outs.  He is my person and knows me better then I know myself.

I love this man fiercely!   He loves me unconditionally through all my faults, and still thinks I'm incredibly beautiful.  I couldn't have asked for a better man to have by my side.  Our life together has made me so happy.  We have 3 amazing boys and Brad is an exceptional father.  He works so hard to provide for our family so that not only do we have a beautiful house to call home, but also the means and time to make family memories.

We have done so much together, lived a few different places and have traveled to see lots of places.  It has drawn us closer together.

Yesterday we had a wonderful day of celebrations.  I mean it is our number 10 so you kindof have to do something special.  I had 10 balloons with pictures on the end to represent our 10 years together and on the back of the pictures I wrote reasons why I loved him.  I also have to note that  after 10 years of marriage I FINALLY was able to surprise Brad with a gift!  He's always been so good about giving me presents, but I've never been able to truly surprise him and if felt great!  I bought him a new Citizens watch.  He's had his since High School and I thought it was time for an upgrade.

We also watched this slideshow I made Brad with the kids of our 10 years together.  To remind us just how far we've come.  We then dropped the two older kids at a friends house so Brad and I could go out to dinner and have some alone time together (Logan slept through most of it, yay!)  We enjoyed reminiscing and talking about our wonderful family that we've created.

Yep I must say that I love my life and can't wait to celebrate many more decades with this man!

50 Days of School

Last week Carson's school celebrated 50 days of school.  Its crazy to me that he hasn't been in school that long, but yet is learning so much!  He comes home talking about vertices.  Vertices, people!  I didn't even know what he was talking about until he asked me how many vertices are in a triangle.  3.  How many in a square? 4.  Vertices are the "corners" in shapes.  Circles don't have vertices, they have swirls.  Umm, isn't this algebra?

He also likes to talk about the difference between 2D and 3D shapes, fiction v. non fiction books.  Seriously, when I was in kindergarten it was half day and we even had naptime.  Its amazing to me all that he is learning!

When we got evaluated for kindergarten he only knew one sight word.  Now he is reading books!

We had a parent teacher conference last week and his teacher said "he is a wonderful listener and follows directions quickly (a teachers dream)!"  She also said that this is going to be a big growth year for him, which I have already seen.  Sure am proud of him!

I asked him to read me his book last night so I could record how well he is doing and I was trying so hard not to laugh the entire time!  He sure is a funny/cute kid!

Logan: 4 Months

Weight: 11.1 lbs

Height: 23.5 inches

Small but mighty.  Thats how the doctor describes Logan.  Logan is very strong, but small in stature. He's following in his brother Carson's footsteps in regards to size.

This past month has been a big month for Logan.  He has found his feet and loves to play with them any chance he gets.  He is constantly putting both hands in his mouth.  He also hates laying back, and will try sitting up by himself by doing crunches (he's going to have abs of steal).  He is also a droolly little thing and always has a long string of drool coming from his mouth.  We've even made it into a game to see who gets "slimmed" by Logan.
 

Logan also started rolling over, grabbing things within his reach, and has become quite the chatterbox.  He loves it when his brothers play with him, but hates it when they hold him (mostly Tanner he's gotten better about Carson holding him).

Everyone comments on how he looks just like his brothers.  "You can definitely tell what family he comes from".  Glad to claim this little cutie as ours!

Halloween 2014

Carson's favorite day of the year: Halloween!  We've been counting down the days since the middle of September and the day finally arrived!

Our Halloween festivities started with our ward trunk or treat that was earlier in the week.  The first thing Carson said as he ran into our room that morning was "today's the trunk or treat! I'm so excited!"

Apparently Carson is already too cool for us.  He wanted to go trunk or treating with his friend and her family rather then with us.

So it was just me, Tanner, and the babes, while Brad passed out the candy.  

We had some really cute trunks, Harry Potter, Frozen, Nintendo mine field, and some more traditional ones.  Tanner did really well this year and I think he "got" it!

Halloween!  The boys were so excited!

Our neighborhood does a potluck before trick or treating.  My next door neighbor hosted and it was a great way to get to know some more of our neighbors.

We meet up with our friends (aka Carson's girlfriend from a previous post), they have three girls the same ages as ours and our kids play so well together! (Isn't her costume just the cutest?)

These kids were hard to keep up with!  They were just running from house to house and having so much fun!

After an hour of trick or treating I unfortunately had to come home early with a cranky, hungry, and tired superhero.  After I left Brad and the two boys continued trick or treating.  A house in our neighborhood was decorated as a haunted house and some not very nice teenage boys dressed up in scary clown outfits and corned Carson, and really scared him.  Brad said he wouldn't be surprised if Carson now has a fear of clowns.

When I asked him how his night when he explained "great! except for that one house".  I'm glad that the haunted house hasn't affected his love of Halloween, and no surprise, he's already planning his costume for next year. 

Red Ribbon Week

This past week was red ribbon week and throughout the week they had themed day's to celebrate.  

On Monday was wear the color Red

Tuesday was crazy hair day.  I had totally planned on just spray painting his hair, but on Monday he came home from school and said he wanted to wear a wig like his friend, luckily we have Brad's ol mullet wig that he wore a few years back.  I was worried his wig looked more like girl hair then mullet, but Carson loved it.

and Friday (Halloween) was dress as your favorite book character.  They had the kids bring a book that their character is from to show in the parade.  (I think this was how the school was able to justify having the kids dress up for Halloween.)

 It was so fun to see these little kiddos at the bus stop!

We were able to go to Carson's school that morning and watch the Halloween I mean "character" parade. There were some really creative costume ideas.  Carson was so cute and you could tell he loved the attention, because he was definitely strutting his stuff while waving to everyone!  It was a great way to start the Halloween day.
