Spotlight

Carson has the Spotlight in preschool today!  I have to admit I had a lot of fun making his poster and I am really proud/excited how it turned out.  He was so excited to take his poster to preschool today (although you can't tell from the picture.  I'm afraid he is starting the no smile in pictures phase like his dad, but don't worry I'll fix him) and I of course made him wear his matching shirt cuz I'm cheesy like that.

Carson's Fun Facts:
Picture of Carson
His Family
Favorite Food: Macaroni & Cheese
What he wants to be when he grows up: Superhero
Favorite Holiday: Halloween
Favorite Color: Orange
Favorite Cartoon/Superhero: Spiderman

and to add more to his Superhero awesomeness I found this gem on Craigslist and had to get it for him.  He's worn it for 2 straight days and would sleep in it if he could. This is for you Uncle Matt!

Whats new with me?

I hate when people ask me this, because this is usually me answer:

me? ...humm...well, ummm. lets see... what is new with me?  ...I guess I went to Walmart today.

I'm pretty boring and I guess when something is new with me it usually means I did something with the boys or the boys/Brad did something and I claim it, because it does affect me.

but I have done some things lately without the boys that I thought I'd share.

I had a girls night with my cousin-in law (is that a term?)  Anyway my cousins wife.  She got tickets from a client to go see Stomp, a broadway/Vegas production, where people bang on trash cans and such.  Since my cousin had to work she called me and we made a girls night of it.  We went out to eat and then to the production.  It was amazing!  I loved it.

I also had the opportunity to go the the Gila Valley temple with our youth.  It was the first time I've been able to go since I've been in YW, because the last time they went I was still nursing Tanner and he was to young for me to leave him behind.  So it was nice to be able to go this time.

I haven't been to the Gila Valley Temple since the open house a few years ago (Mesa is actually our temple district, but they are sooo busy and hard to get an appointment unless its our stakes allotted time) and going to Safford made my heart ache a little for our old stomping ground.

Anyway, I didn't go inside, but instead volunteered to stay with some of our youth who are not baptized yet.  We have a foreign exchange student from Germany, as well as a brother and a sister (14&12) getting baptized in 2 weeks.  It was a really neat experience to be with them.  We walked around the temple grounds and talked about what temples mean and we waited in the waiting room while we watched lds videos and looked at the special Ensign on Temples.

I am enjoying my new quiet/me time. When Carson is in preschool its also Tanners nap time, and I'm amazed at how much I can get done as well as relax in just those 2 1/2 hours.  I love it.  For I think all of us mothers know that we need some alone time to rejuvenate!

11 Months

Weight: 20.4 lbs
When I do these monthly updates, usually I look back on Carson's monthly blog post to compare the two, and for the most part I could copy and paste what Carson was doing at that age vs. Tanner.  11 months was no different.  They seem to be growing at the same pace.  At 11 months Tanner is a pro at cruising.  He loves to move from object to object or even persons.

He also said his first word.  Momma, and actually means me!  Of course it came as no surprise sense he is a huge mommas boy.  He is also off baby food and loves to eat whatever we eat, even if its a little spicy.

He tries so hard to play with the big kids!  His absolute favorite thing is to play trains with Carson.  He loves that train table and gets so excited to play, however Tanner mostly just destroys the tracks then anything.  He loves going to the park and climbing up slides, just to go down on his belly.  Its kind of funny, because Carson was the opposite.  He hated the slides at this age.

I really can't believe that next month Tanner will be 1!  I'm so in denial!  This year went by way too fast I still feel like I just had him, he can't possibly be having a birthday, can he?

A lot harder this month to take pictures.  Tanner was not in the mood!

These top teeth have totally changed Tanners look!  He is looking more like a toddler...

Phoenix Children's Museum

Brad was out of town again last week, and so to escape boredom I decided to take the boys to visit Brad's cousin in Gilbert, AZ.  Brian and Catherine just bought a new house and we've been wanting to come see the new place.  Plus Catherine is going to be having a baby any day now and we had to give her little belly a rub for good luck.

We went up on Thursday and spent the night.  Then on Friday Laura (Brad's other cousin and sister to Brian) brought down her kids and we took them to the children's museum.  Carson was in heaven.  He loved it.  Its funny how the minds of boys/girls work at such a young age.  Carson wanted anything cars or mazes, while Bentlee wanted to pretend shop.

Carson loved painting the rocket ship.

The treehouse/maze.  Carson has been asking everyday to go back and play on the treehouse.  If only we lived closer...

Carson being chivalrous and giving Bentlee a ride through the carwash.

Enjoying their "ice cream"

Thanks again girls for such a fun day!

3 & 1/2

Carson had his half birthday this month.  I can't believe what a big boy he is turning into!  He is so fun to be with.  We love playing trains and superheroes.  He loves preschool and always wants to bring something to school to show his teacher, because "Ms Kylee will WUV it!"  He loves playing with friends and gets sad if other kids on the playground don't want to play with him.

Some of Carson's sayings:
  • Guess what?  Chicken butt!  (I think my brothers taught him that one)
  • 1...2...3...Spiderman!
  • Good Night, Sleep Tight don't let the Hulk Smash
  • The other day he pulled out the Uno cards and was throwing them around the house trying to "get" the robots.  (He was pretending to be Gambit from X-men.)
  • Since the first of this month Carson asks every day if its Halloween yet.  He is obsessed with anything Halloween related.
  • Brad showed Carson the preview to the new Superman movie and Carson said "look its Jesus!"
  • While at a friends house for a play date Carson came up to me and said "Tanner's mommy can you help me?"
Couldn't imagine life without him.  I love this little man so much!

Photo Booth

Found this cool website off of Pinterest that takes your pictures and turns them into a photo booth strip. Pretty cool.  Here it is if you want to check it out:  http://photoboother.com/
