Logan Black Belt

After three years of dedication, hard work, and perseverance, Logan earned his black belt in Taekwondo! We couldn’t be more proud of him. The ceremony was held in a high school gym, packed with students, instructors, and proud parents.  It was a full house and quite the contrast to when Carson and Tanner earned their black belts for them, it was smaller and more private, with only the black belt students and parents in attendance.  I preferred that.

Even though this one wasn’t as intimate, it was still incredibly special in its own way. One of the most touching moments was when Logan washed my feet as a symbol of respect and gratitude. He also stood in front of everyone and thanked us for supporting him on this journey.

It was a beautiful reminder of the discipline, character, and heart Taekwondo instills. Way to go, Logan! We’re so proud of you and everything this black belt represents. 🖤🥋

 With all 3 boys now black belts its a little sad to see this journey at an end, but I will like it clearing up my weekday schedule!

All about Logan

It’s been a big season for Logan with some major milestones, sweet moments, and one black belt!

First up—Logan’s 4th grade musical, Weather the Weather! I was especially excited to go because, back in 2nd grade, Logan had been SO excited for his musical… right up until he got sick the day of the performance and missed it entirely. That one was heartbreaking—he had looked forward to it for weeks. So while this year’s show didn’t quite carry the same level of anticipation for him, I still loved getting to watch him on stage. The musical was all about weather (yes, you guessed it—songs about hurricanes, sunshine, snow, and everything in between). My favorite was the tornado song—I wish I had gotten a video of it—and there was a jazzy number about humidity that was surprisingly catchy!

Logan also had a really cool opportunity with his Scout troop recently—they got to meet with the city mayor! Logan even got to ask a question: “Why did you want to become mayor?” The mayor’s answer was so thoughtful, he said he’s a connector and wanted to build bridges between the government, the people, and local businesses. It was a meaningful experience and I love how Scouts creates these moments.

Another school highlight a family picnic during Logan’s lunch hour! Brad and I were both able to come, and we brought lunch to eat with Logan out on the playground. It was simple but so sweet especially since they planned it close to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Logan loved having us both there.

And finally… he did it!! Logan passed his last belt test and is officially a black belt in Taekwondo! It’s the end of a long journey, and while it’s a little bittersweet, we’re so proud of his commitment and hard work. He’ll have an official ceremony in December to receive his black belt and trophy. In the meantime, we enjoyed watching him show off all his moves and kicks that he learned, during his test.  As well as watching him break all those boards!

Fall happenings

Fall update on the boys!

Logan went to Cub Scout camp for the day and loved it.

His favorite was the BB guns.

I think practicing at the cabin paid off!

I mean compared to the other boys in his den, he killed it.

We also started fall soccer! Or as Logan calls it, football. Logan hasn’t ever really been interested in soccer, he played when he was really young, but he doesn't remember. In fact the last time he tried to play he went to one practice before the world shut down for Covid, but recently he's been playing "football" at recess with his friends and so has been dying to play with a team.

 Logan got the MVP the very first game! His coach said that during practice Logan told the coach he wasn’t so sure about this soccer thing, but during the game he kept attacking the ball all with a huge smile on his face.

And his team won first place in his age division! Logan was so happy he got an actual trophy! (Here you only get trophies if you win, otherwise you get a participation medal)

And he also moved up in Taekwondo! Logan broke his first big board! And is now a people belt.

I promise I have other kids! Tanner went on a scout campout to Dino Valley. It’s a state park that has Dino footprint fossils in the riverbed. And since Texas is in a drought and the riverbed practically non existent, they got to see lots of footprints! It was pretty cool!

Next up, Fall Orchestra concerts! So handsome in his tux🤵🏼

And it was Tanners first one too! Since its the first years first one, they played a couple simple songs and then also taught 1 person how to play. Tanner taught his friend who came along to support.

So proud!

 Phew fall is a busy time of year, with the start of school and all the things! I wish I could say I hope it’ll slow down soon, but the holidays are right around the corner so we all know that ain’t gonna happen!
