Broski

After we got home from Colorado, Brad literally turned around and went back the next day for a business trip.  That weekend he stayed a couple extra days to meet up with his brothers to go skiing!  I think its safe to say that they always have a great time together!

Brad had to say goodbye to his old ski boots from high school!!  The week before when we were skiing as a family the bottom of his boot literally disintegrated after he took them off.  So he bought some new ones.  Still after having these for 20+ years he was sad to say goodbye.  So many memories.

Purgatory Day 2

Ready to hit the slopes again!

On our second day it snowed a lot!  Overall the 3 days we were there, they got 27 inches of snow!  The powder was so deep, Brad went on a solo ride and had to rescue some girls who got too deep into the powder.  He's old ski patrol instincts kicking in.  It's so cool to watch him in his element.  See that awesome skier right there?  Yep thats my husband, sporting his cool new goggles and flying through that powder.

In the morning I had the two younger boys while Brad took Carson on a run.  We tried to get Logan into the daycare since he didn't want to ski, however they were full.  And Tanner didn't want to go down the bunny hill quite yet and wanted to keep practicing on the magic carpet that he did the day before in his ski class.  However where we were we had to go down the bunny hill to get to the magic carpet, but he would only go down the bunny hill with Brad (everyone feels more safe skiing with Brad then me, I don't blame them I do too) plus I had Logan and I'm not as good of skier to help both down the hill.  So while we waited for Brad I pulled Tanner up the tiny slope next to the ski lift.  It was a good workout.  After doing that for a good half hour we learned that you could take the bus to the magic carpet.

the magic carpet! Finally!

watching/waiting while Tanner goes up and down the slopes.
He was just having fun in the snow

Taking Carson up on a run.

While having lunch in the lodge we struck up a conversation with the table next to us.  "where are you from?" they asked us.  "Houston" "same! what part?" "Katy" Turns out they were also from Katy and just a neighborhood close by!  Another table said they too were from Katy, in the end their were 4 of us families all sitting right by each other in small Durango, CO from Katy, TX.  The locals call it Texas week (the week of our Texas spring break) because apparently all of Texas flocks there.  Turns out they were right!

Brad's turn with the younger two.  He always spoils them.

My turn with Carson.  He got much more stronger the second day and was flying down the mountain!

By afternoon the sun had finally come out!  It was so gorgeous!

It didn't last long as by the time the slopes were closing it started snowing again, but it was a great day skiing.  Brad and Carson were in heaven, Tanner was getting more comfortable and stronger (he was going down the bunny hill at the end!), and Logan...well he'll tell anyone who asks he does NOT want to go skiing again.  He's only 4 Brad has plenty of time to change his mind.

Hoping to come again next year!

On our way home I thought it would be fun to stop at the Magnolia Market in Waco.  Turns out that day the stars of Flipper Upper were having a book signing later and so half of Texas was probably there.  Oh well I still had fun even if the boys didn't 😂

Purgatory Day 1

The boys were so excited to go skiing! Especially Carson and Logan.  I could tell that Tanner was a little nervous and more hesitant than his brothers, but was trying to act just as excited as they were.

The night before it had snowed so we knew it was going to be a great ski day with all that fresh powder!

Dropping Tanner and Logan and ski school.  One of the reasons we came to Durango was not only do kids 10 and under ski free!!! but if its also their first time skiing they offer free ski lessons as well!  Score!  Carson picked up skiing so quick last year so we jumped straight into the bunny hill with him. And just put Tanner and Logan in.
How adorable is this!!  I was so surprised at how excited Logan was and was basically running to ski lessons.

Skiing the bunny hill, it had also been pre-kids since the last time I went skiing, so I needed a warm up as well, but its almost like riding a bike it comes back quick and natural.
Whelp during lunch we got a call saying that Logan was done for the day, he cried a lot of it and didn't want to ski anymore.  I was a little sad, he seemed so excited...  When Brad went to pick him up Brad said he found him asleep at the table eating lunch 😂  So I took Carson to do his first ever green slope, while Brad skied with Logan between his legs.

Logan loved skiing with Brad!  However he now says he doesn't ever want to go skiing again.  He was worried about people running into him, which makes me wonder if thats what happened in ski school.
Going up the slopes!
It took us awhile to get down the first time.  I think seeing the moguls on the ride up, freaked him out a little bit, I didn't realize it was his first time down the green, I had thought he'd gone with Brad last winter, so I should have better prepared him.  But we made it and we're excited to do it again tomorrow!

Tanner did well in ski school and the instructor said he was ready for the bunny hill!
phew. tiring day.

The hot tub at the hotel that night felt really good!
