Halloween ‘21

My boys love Halloween.  Logan especially did not think I had nearly enough Halloween decorations up and was constantly asking to go to the Halloween store throughout the month of October to get some more.  Here's some of the fun we had:

I have a picture of Carson from years back on Halloween day in his Harry Potter costume that he wore to school on a foggy morning.  It's one of my favorites, and since Logan is now a huge Harry Potter fan and their just happened to be another foggy morning right before Halloween I made this kid take some of his own pictures.  So fun!

One of our school's tradition is to paint a book character on a pumpkin!  This year we got a fake pumpkin to paint since our one from last year went rotten and the school library had to throw it out.  I did a character from Tanner's favorite book called New Kid.  It seems like an odd choice, but right when we were deciding what to do for our pumpkin we found out that a mom in our school district was trying to get this book banned for teaching critical race theory (which it doesn't it's just a book from a black kid's perspective) the author was even going to come to one of our schools for an assembly the which because of this mom's outcry the authors visit got postponed.  They pulled all of Jerry Crafts books off the school library's bookshelf to review them.  It was a little crazy.  Again this is Tanner's favorite book and so in my pettiness we painted our annual pumpkin in protest.  Luckily the school review board came back saying it is a good and appropriate book and is now back in our school's library.
Jordan from New Kid:

Our book character parade!  Tanner went as the the ghost from christmas future from the classic Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol
Logan went as Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter since he has really blonde hair like Logan

Halloween night!  My boys love Halloween and always love dressing up and trick or treating.  This year, the two older boys were off with friends leaving just Logan for Brad and I to take around the neighborhood.

Carson put on his friends Halloween costume on top of his own for this classic picture 😂  I'm dying 💀
Tanner off with his friend!
My little Harry Potter. I'm glad I at least have one kid to enjoy trick or treating with.  He was running up and down the street, but as soon as his candy hit the top of his bucket he was done and just wanted to go home!
checking out his spoils!
After all the fun of trick or treating was done, we got to watch the Astros play a game in the World Series.  the Astros unfortunately lost the World Series to the Atlanta Braves.

Halloween Concert 🎃 👻

I'm so incredibly proud of how hard he's worked with his cello!  He's so good and I love hearing him play.  Also so happy that regular school activities are back! and without a facemask!
For his first orchestra concert of the year Carson got to play at the high school!  It was combined with the high school students, two jr. high orchestras performed two songs and then 2 high school orchestras got to play.  It was a fun experience and Carson hearing the high school players lit a fire under him making him want to be in the top high school orchestra.

In between the jr high and high school players they had a costume parade for the kids.  Logan jumped right on up and was the first to go across the stage in his costume.  Here he is giving a high five to the high school orchestra teacher.  All the jr high and high school orchestra teachers wore Sesame Street costumes.  Loved it!  Side note: the high school orchestra teacher is married to Carson's jr. high Orchestra teacher.  cute huh!

High school orchestra playing Ghostbusters

It was such an amazing concert!  Loved hearing both the jr high and high school students play.  It definitely put us in the Halloween spirit!

Campout!

Cub Scout campout!
Logan was living his best life!

I do have other kids, it’s just I was in charge of Logan’s group since I’m the assistant. Which is why they’re so many pictures of him. But I did get a couple of my other two. Carson helped with a compass activity for the cub scouts as well as pass off some of his Boy Scout requirements.
Tanners den participated in the Dutch oven chili cook off.
Logan got his bobcat and participated in the bobcat ceremony with Brad.
They painted each other’s faces

It was a fun weekend!

Double digits!

Wow. Ten. How could it have been ten years since this incredible kid entered our lives? He’s kind and thoughtful with lots of energy. He’s smart and does well in school. He loves playing outside with his friends. We’re so blessed to have him! Love being his mom.

We spoiled him on his birthday and we all went to one of our favorite places Anthony’s.

Texas State Fair

We were once again so excited to have Ryan & Sasha’s family out to Texas to join us in some fun! This time we tackled the famous Texas State Fair!
Before we headed to the Fair we went to a park downtown to play.

Next up State Fair with Big Tex welcoming us!

Dippin Dots for the win! We also tried some traditional Fair food. Meaning anything fried! We got fried pumpkin pie, and fried s’mores. Interestingly yummy.
Feeding the over feed animals 😆

So we all admitted the fair was a bust. It was just so so crowded & overpriced. I guess we can take it off our Texas bucket list though! It was more enjoyable just bring with family and enjoying each other’s company.
