While in Ghent Brad and I toured a real medieval castle! Built in 1180 by Philip of Alsace the Count of Flounders the Gravensteen Castle (Castle of the Counts) is your classic example of a medieval military castle. Complete with a dungeon and moat! Count Philip even went on two crusades. On his second crusade he died the day they entered the holy land (Israel)
