Suns

To the disappointment of family members, now that Brad and I live in Arizona we have become Suns fans. I just love Steve Nash and we were so sad to see the Suns lose on Tuesday. I hate the Spurs! I guess we'll just have to root for our number 2 favorite team. The Jazz. They really do deserve a title after all these years. So even though I haven't watched them all season go Jazz!

Our Temple

On Saturday President Monson announced that we will be 2 new temples in Arizona the Gilbert Arizona Temple and the Gila Valley Temple located in the Safford/Thatcher area! I couldn't believe it! In Logan I took for granted having a temple within walking distance from our house and now after living in Morenci for 1 1/2 years and having to make the dreadsome 4 hour drive to Mesa we will be getting our own temple only 50 minutes away! We are so thankful to receive such a wonderful blessing that I don't think I could ever take for granted again.

Here is a quote from the Deseret News on the new temple announcement:

"It is my personal priority to make sure members of the Church have access to the blessings of the temple," said President Monson. "It is here where members learn of their divine origin and destiny; where they are strengthened spiritually as individuals and as families. Temples are sanctuaries from the storms of life.

"There are currently two temples in Arizona: one in Mesa and another in Snowflake. The temples in the Gila Valley and Gilbert will bring the total number to four. The two new temples are the first to be announced by President Monson since he became president of the Church on Feb. 3.

How do they do it?

So last night as Brad was fast asleep and I was still starring at the ceiling I wondered how in the world he can fall asleep so fast. As soon as his head hits the pillow he is out. It takes me anywhere from 10-30 minutes from the moment I put my head on my pillow until I fall asleep.

I also think that the time we are in bed is a good time for us to talk, but I usually just end up talking to myself because he is already out. I know I'm not the only one who has this problem. I've talked to others who have the same problem. I swear its a male phenomenon and should be given a name.

Brad's Training

Last week Brad had a training in Tennessee.  Although he brought me back a really cute purse I missed him so much.  There's not much to do in Morenci when he's gone and although I got all my visiting teaching done that week its still really lonely.  

Brad had a good time on his business trip and out of all things he got to see his mom.  Kae and her mom were visiting her sister out in Alabama and traveled to Tennessee to see a play and Brad got to hook up with them.  He really enjoyed spending time with his mom and grandma and he even said the Dolly Parton play was actually really good, but I'm so happy he is home a week away is just too long!  

So True!

Welcome Back!

After many long and painful months of no new TV shows I am so happy to say that the writers strike is finally over! Brad and I finally got to watch one of our favorite shows The Office last night and it was hilarious! I have missed these shows so much and am so happy to have them back.

Locked Out!

So in between conference sessions on Sunday, Brad and I went on a walk. We are usually both really good at bringing our keys with us, but for whatever reason we both forgot our keys and ever since last years break-in we are both so faithful at locking our doors the end result:
we ended up locking ourselves out of our house.

Since we do live in company housing, the town of Morenci has a set of keys for all the houses in Morenci. So we went to our neighbors to call the housing department to let us in. Even though we have been here a year and a half now we haven't spoken to our neighbor since we've moved in we will waive to each other if we're both outside, but that's about it (we're horrible I know). We had a really nice visit with our neighbor while waiting for the housing department to unlock us out of our house. So if anything good came out of locking our house it was being able to get to know our neighbor better.

Unfortunately for us the housing departments key to our house did not work. So we had to resort to the old school method of breaking into our own home. Even though we have all of our windows locked Brad was still able to jiggle it enough to unlock itself. It was a little scary to see how easy it was to break into our own home with these old houses.

The funny thing too was that I was just talking to our friend Kim the day before about all of the times she has locked herself out and feeling lucky that we've never locked ourselves out. Isn't that how it usually goes? Hopefully this was just a one time thing.

No More Orkin!

Around this time of year for the past 3 years I am reminded of how thankful I am that Brad is no longer with Eclipse Marketing selling Orkin pest control. When I hear Brad's brothers, who are still with the company, getting ready to go out for the summer I take one deep sigh of relief because I'm glad that's not us!

Don't get me wrong I do have some fond memories of our summer's back East. Here our some of the things I did enjoy:

Brad flying me to Florida to propose,

Stopping at historical sites on the drive home,

Teaching myself how to watercolor,

Making many trips to Washington D.C.,

It paid for school, and most importantly

I did not having to work during the school year

But for the most part I really hated Brad doing Eclipse. I hated driving across Wyoming and Nebraska, the other states weren't so bad. When we were dating I only saw him once during the 4 months he was gone and we were on the phone late at night every night (I drove my family crazy by tying up the phone line). Plus after we were engaged I had to plan a wedding with him living thousands of miles away. When we were married and I went out with him to Virginia he would be gone until 10:00 at night and we wouldn't have dinner until 10:30 if not later. Really the only time I saw Brad was Saturday nights and Sunday's. I was home all the time (I did have 2 part time jobs, but still didn't work nearly as many hours as Brad) I would read and finish a book a day.

I have loved these past 2 summers where we have a steady paycheck and can take vacations like going to Philadelphia and if emergencies pop up like an unexpected funeral like last year, we can go! I love Brad having a normal job and even though it was really a good experience for Brad to sell pest control I'm glad we never have to do it again and I'm looking forward to our 3rd summer Orkin free!

Wonderful Friends and Family

I just want to express how thankful I am to have such wonderful friends! Going through this experience has really been hard and I was so overwhelmed from everyone’s love and support. I just wanted to share some of the wonderful moments that everyone has done for me.

The day I found out about the miscarriage my friend/boss brought over our favorite dinner from Phoenix called Joe’s BBQ which Brad greatly appreciated and a beautiful outfit from my favorite store called Black and White. In the following weeks after I’ve received dinner from numerous ladies in my ward, the stake presidents wife and my loving friends. One who touched me was Stephanie she is in our ward in Morenci and she had a baby just two weeks before and she wanted to bring me dinner. It brought me to tears because I felt that if anyone deserved a dinner it was her but she insisted and that night I got a wonderful chicken enchilada dinner.

I’ve come home to beautiful flowers given from my wonderful aunt and uncle Matt and Sherry and had a surprise flowery delivery at work from a dear friend of ours from Morenci who had moved to Utah a year ago.

I’ve received lots phone calls from friends and family letting me know of their love and support. I’ve even been surprised to hear from people I hadn’t talked to in the longest time. Brad’s cousin who I’ve only met a handful of times found out from my sister-in-law about what happened and she immediately started emailing me with wonderful words of encouragement she had just miscarried six weeks earlier and its been nice to talk to someone who knows what I have gone through. Just last night I received a phone call from one of our dear friends in Logan. I haven’t seen or talked to them since September when we were in Utah for Rich’s wedding, but of course even living a thousand miles apart news spreads and she had heard what happened to me and called to let me know she had been thinking of me all week and how sorry she felt for us. Well while talking to her she told me of her blog and sent me an invite. After I got off the phone with her I checked her blog only to find out 3 weeks ago she got severely burned after she fainted in the shower and the water got too hot. She mentioned this briefly on the phone, but I didn’t realize how serious it was because she had to get a skin graft done on her leg and she hasn’t been able to walk. After reading her blog and seeing all that she had just gone through she still thought of me and wanted to see how I was doing. She is truly amazing and such a strong person. I couldn't believe after all she went through she would even think to call me up and to say how sorry she felt.

Even though this has been an extremely hard time it made me feel how blessed I am to have such wonderful and thoughtful friends and family who I care for very deeply.

I'm Back

After a long time being away from blogging and checking everyday to see what my friends had written on their blogs I finally decided to do a lot of research to find my old blog. I had to use Google's old blog website to find it and even then I tried a thousand different combinations to access my account. I tried to think of all of the different passwords I would have used 2 years ago and was getting extremely frustrated but I finally found it. Now I think I might need someone to teach me all the cool things you can do to your blog because I am a little outdated when it comes to blogging so here is to a fresh new start.

And just so you know I am going to be writting about past experiences and posting them on the day they happened mostly for my own record so if you would like to look back for the next few days I'll be blogging some new posts, but with old dates.
