a Brad and Emily Update

I don't know if you noticed, but a lot of my posts are about Carson (just look under my labels Carson has 70 posts just about him)! Although Brad and I aren't nearly as cute or do as many funny things. I thought I'd shine the spotlight on us for a change. So if you don't want to read a "brag" blog, please pass.

First off Brad: He finished and started another semester. I'm sure it will come as no surprise when I tell you last semester he got two 100% on his midterms. Although I no longer am surprised by his smartness, I'm always amazed. He makes it seem so easy! But if you look at his homework, the physics of sound/noise, you'd die. He only has 4 more classes left and then he is done! Hallelujah! The end is in sight. He is expected to graduate this fall semester (December) and we are planning to fly to New Orleans to watch him walk.

Not only is Brad good in the school department he is also getting high praise at work. He got a big promotion last November. So he is now a SR. Industrial Hygienist. Same job just bigger name title and paycheck. Then last week Brad was in charge of a meeting that had all the Industrial Hygienist in his company in the western United States. They voted unanimously for him to be their team leader. Brad's old boss (who is now his corporate boss) kept complimenting Brad in front of everyone and told them to look to Brad as an example of how they should work.

Next is Emily: So after 4 1/2 years in primary I was released on Sunday, and given a new calling. To tell you the truth it couldn't have come at a better time, because Brad and I's new primary class was a handful (to put it nicely)! When the counselor in the Bishopric came to our house I thought for sure he was going to put us in nursery, because Carson's nursery leader was just released, but he surprised me when he asked me to be the first counselor in Young Womens. I must say I was really excited. I've always felt that I should be in YW's. I'm in charge of the Mia Maids and they seem like such a great group of girls. I was surprised yesterday at how I still have the YW theme memorized (except for the new part, I goofed on that). I'm really looking forward to working with the girls in our ward. Brad also enjoyed his first time (in this ward) in Elders Quorum. As he said "its soooo much better then primary!"

I've also been wrangling with Carson, signing my sister up on LDS singles and looking for potential dates for her, and getting in gear to start up some projects around the house.

Our names our Brad and Emily and we're mormon.

Mascara Massacre

I recently read an article that said one way that shows you are a good parent is instead of freaking out over some things you take a picture. That popped into my head this morning when Carson came down the stairs and I saw this:My brand new mascara smeared all over his face and all down our stairs. Yep, black mascara on my very light carpet. Luckily it is not water proof and so it came out quite easily. Have I told you Carson's new favorite toy is my eye lash curler? He carries it around with him everywhere and even sleeps with it. I thought being interested in makeup was a girl thing?

I think I need a new "secret" makeup drawer. One where a two year old can't get his hands into.

Trains, Planes, and a Fork Lift

Like most boys, Carson has sure taken a liking to anything that has a motor. I love how he gets so excited when he sees trains and planes. Heres a look at all the vehicles Carson got to ride while in Utah.

Here we are at Grandpa Clarks work getting a free ride on the fork lift. He sure loved driving that thing.

However Carson's true love is Trains. So we decided to take him on the Front Runner (a train that goes from Ogden to Salt Lake City).

He wouldn't even bother looking at the camera when the train pulled in:

His first reaction when we got on. This has got to be one of my favorite pictures.
The whole ride he kept saying "choo-choo", "beep-beep" (when the doors opened), and "oooooh". It just melts my heart seeing him so happy.

His excitement when we first boarded the plane and he looked out the window.

This face was made during a two hour lay-over in Vegas. Trust me when I say it was a long two hours chasing Carson while he tried to make friends with anyone who had a laptop or a Kindle and making sure he didn't play on the slot machines. I was exhausted and apparently so was he because soon after take-off he conked right out.

Tangled

Today Carson saw his first movie in the Theater. Tangled. He loved it! He was so enthralled the entire movie. Even when it started and the Disney logo with the castle came up he went "oooohhh" and pointed his finger. Then at the end when Rapunzel and Flenn kissed Carson then blew a kiss at the movie screen! It was so cute! I loved watching his face during the movie more then the movie itself (though the movie was extremely cute).

Since Carson has been born the only time Brad and I have been to the theater has been when we've come up to Utah to visit family and could leave Carson with a babysitter. Now that we know Carson does so well I think we will now be going to see more movies as a family.
