What a Pregnant Woman does when She is Bored
I was going through some of my old blog posts from when I was pregnant with Carson and came upon this post. I laughed thinking the picture was funny and remembered my first impression as being "this baby looks like a bully". So I thought I would compare a picture of Carson to the picture the "Make me Babies" website came up with.

The Story
After church on Sunday I took my regular Sunday nap. When a knock on the door got me out of bed. It was our new bishop (my old boss) dropping off something for Brad. He asked how I was feeling and I had to pause because I felt a huge gush of water starting to run down my leg, and said "Actually I think my water just broke" both Brad and the bishops eyes went wide and then it was a scramble to the hospital. Brad was pretty excited and kept knocking everything over in our house including a bowl of popcorn trying to get everything together.
We made it to the hospital just fine. Since it is an hour ride to the hospital I thought it was going to be the longest hour of my life and I was pleasantly surprised that the ride went so smoothly. I checked into the hospital at about 5:30 p.m. and even though I wasn't feeling any contractions yet, according to the monitor I was having one every two minutes. I received an epidural when I hit 5 centimeters and up until this point I wasn't in too much pain until the anesthesiologist tried to put the epidural in. The numbing agent she used unfortunately did not work on me and I felt her try to put the epidural in. Very painful. So she got a different numbing medicine that worked a whole lot better.
I was dilating rather smoothly and Brad and I took the time we could to just rest. At this point I felt so lucky that everything was going so well and I wasn't even in any pain I could even sleep during contractions (I didn't do too much sleeping though because I was really anxious). At about 4:oo a.m. Monday morning my epidural wore off and I was really starting to feel the contractions and was in a lot of pain. An hour went by before the anesthesiologist came back with more pain meds and then I was back to being pain free.
At about 5:00 a.m. I reached 9 centimeters and the nurses thought I could have him any minute. Unfortunately at this point Carson decided to stop. It took 4 hours to go from 9 centimeters to 10. I was so exhausted by this point, but for the next 2 hours I was pushing for Carson to come out, but he was being very stubborn and would not come. The doctor finally had to use a vacuum to help him come out. So after 20 hours of labor Carson finally arrived.
Brad was amazing he stuck by me the whole time and was very encouraging even when I felt like I couldn't do it anymore.
It has been a full day now and Carson is just the most precious thing. He is very alert when he is awake, but has been sleeping for most of the day. My mom says he looks a lot like me when I was born but I can also see some of Brad in him. Brad and I instantly fell in love with him and are so excited to bring him home.

Any Day Now
I went to my doctors visit today and the doctor told me I could go into labor at any minute! I am already dilated to 3-4 centimeters and 80% effaced. The doctor could even fell the baby's head. I can't believe how close it is for his actual arrival, but I'm going to try to last until the weekend is over because my doctor is going to be in a seminar in Phoenix and won't be back until Sunday night so the baby needs to wait until then.
The bag is packed and waiting by the door. Hopefully my next post will be a baby announcement!

Update
A small update:
Just to let you know the baby dropped on Sunday! Yeah! I think it was from the fact that I did a lot of walking in Tucson that weekend. Brad noticed that I dropped before I did. So its a good sign that the baby is coming soon.
I also went to my weekly doctors appointment yesterday. I am full term now so the baby could come anytime and would be perfectly healthy. I was fully prepared to ask my doctor about my baby measuring too big and when he thinks I should deliver. Fortunately, since the baby has dropped I am measuring at 38 weeks only one week ahead of schedule. So for now I am still on track to delivering around my due date. Which is good because I really want a March baby.
My mom and Katherine bought their plane tickets to come out to help me when the baby is due. I'm so excited for them to come down and help. I know I will definitely need it.
No job yet we are still waiting on potential offers. Which I am being very impatient about. I just want to get something concrete instead of being put on hold. Hopefully we will hear from someone soon.

No Name Baby
With only 4 weeks left to go Brad and I have yet to decide on a baby name. I'm really surprised by this because 1) I had so many different boy names to choose from. I just like boy names compared to girl names because I'm much more picky with the girl names. 2) I never understood the women who "had to see the baby before they named them". To me babies look the same when they are first born and whatever name you give them they will grow into it. However it looks like I'm going to be one of those women. We have had 2 names picked out for the longest time, but can't officially decide on "the one". For those who are wondering I'm not going to use them both (one for the middle name) because for me a middle name has to be a family name. So I guess we will just have to wait until he is born to decide on a name or unless Brad has an epiphany on what he should be called.
I also had my weekly checkup yesterday and he is growing so big! He is measuring 3 weeks ahead at 39 weeks instead of 36 weeks. No wonder my back kills. The doctor said if he keeps growing like this I might have to have him early because he would get too big for me to push him out, however my doctor is really wanting me to go into labor on my own so we will see what happens.

34 Weeks
I promised my sister Marilyn that I would put up another belly picture for everyone to see how big I'm getting. Last week at my doctors visit the doctor said that I am measuring 2 weeks a head of schedule (meaning at 33 weeks along I was measuring at what normally a 35 week belly is). I was really hoping that it would mean I could deliver early, unfortunately that is not what it meant. The baby just had a growth spurt, and he will probably be 7 to 8 pounds. My mom has been so worried that because of how big Brad is that I'm going to have a 10 pound baby. The doctor assured me that will not be the case.

Since I'm talking about the baby I thought I would post this picture of Brad setting up the crib. We put the crib together clear back in October. It was a really special moment because as Brad put up his crib was the first time that I felt him move.
I also thought that I would post this picture of his newly decorated crib.
His bedroom is ready for him when he arrives!

Where oh Where has my Body Gone?
So these past two weeks I have definitely not been feeling the "Joys" of pregnancy. I have to admit pregnancy was not what I was expecting. I really didn't know what to expect to be honest. I thought that when the baby moved that it would be the most beautiful feeling and in all reality it hurts when he moves. He is either in my ribs or he just makes it impossible to be comfortable while sitting. Plus he is the most active when I'm trying to fall asleep. Also now that I'm bigger I have a hard time getting out of bed which is bad when you have to go to the bathroom a few times each night. It's even hard to roll over from one side to the next.
This post is not to say that I hate being pregnant its just along with the joys that pregnancy brings it also brings with it the bad, and today I feel like focusing on the bad. I've had a horrible back ache that has lasted 2 weeks. I'm already having contractions and I no longer have a cute belly button. I'm back to being exhausted, which everyone has been telling me is just going to get worse once he gets here, but at the present its still hard to deal with.
On a more positive note last week at my pre-natal class we took a tour of the OB department in the hospital. It looks really nice and got us excited for the upcoming day and eased our minds (just a little). We also went to Tucson on Saturday to do the last minute baby shopping to get all the little things we still needed. I can't believe he is coming in just 7 weeks. Time sure has snuck up on us, but I have a feeling these next few weeks are going to drag on.

A Strange First
Well this is a first. A couple weeks ago Brad woke me up in the middle of the night wanting to know why I was laughing. It was 2:00 in the morning and I had no idea what he was talking about. Later that night I woke myself up because I was laughing. I must have really funny dreams. I've never done that before and Brad thinks its the funniest thing that I now laugh while I'm sleeping. It must be a pregnancy thing.
*Thanksgiving pictures to come. I've been extremely busy this past week and haven't had the time to download them yet.

Baby Clark

Well its official we are having a baby BOY! We are so excited! I just had a feeling we were having a boy and now its official. It was so fun to see him. He kept moving and loved looking at the camera. He had the cutest little feet and hands. The doctor said he looked perfectly healthy and weighed 12 ounces. My due date is still March 11. I do feel a little cheated however; I only got 3 pictures and they all look the same. I wonder if I could get more...
This past week I have really started to feel him move and Brad has even felt him kick. Its starting to seem real now that we know what it is. Plus we are going to go shopping this weekend and I can finally start buying some baby clothes. We don't have a name picked out quite yet. Even though I felt like we were having a boy we only had a girl name picked out. We still have time though. Today marks my halfway point for the pregnancy I am 20 weeks along and starting to look and feel pregnant and I know its just beginning. March seems so far away and I just can't wait to meet him.

Poll Results
Well I'm a little surprised by the results of the poll. I have felt that we are having a boy, but so many of you (63%) think we are having a girl. I guess we will just have to wait for tomorrow to see who is right...

My new sweet baby - Clark!
This is what happens when you get bored. I like how the baby already has Brad's freckles. I guess we'll just have to wait another long 6 months to see what our baby really looks like.

Our Second Chance

Well I guess the cats out of the bag. I'm pregnant! I'm currently 11 weeks along and have been feeling great. Well there have been a few mishaps, but nothing compared to the morning sickness I had last time. The only "side effect" I've had is that I am so tired and get light headed after I eat. I have also been eating pickles like crazy. I don't know why, I like pickles, but hardly ate them until now when I ate a whole jar in one day a couple weeks ago, I just couldn't help it. So the next day I come home from work with a huge jar of pickles sitting on the kitchen table (the kind you get at Costco) courtesy of Brad.
We found out our wonderful news on our 4th of July trip to Vegas. We waited to tell our families until I was 8 weeks pregnant and just to let you know my family actually believed me this time when I told them (if you read my previous post about my first pregnancy you'll understand) and they were so excited, well I take that back they were a little mad that I waited so long to tell them.
Brad and I went to my first doctors appointment on August 8 and I have to admit I was so nervous. I was worried that I was going to hear the same thing I heard last time. That the baby wasn't alive. I was so happy to see that the doctor was going to do an ultrasound on my first visit and Brad and I were so excited to see our little baby with a heartbeat. It was such a relief and such a wonderful experience to see our baby for the first time. Our doctor took measurements of the baby and concluded that my official due date is March 11, 2009. In the ultrasound picture our baby looks like a lima bean, but we're hopeful that it will continue growing to look more baby like. We are so excited and I couldn't wait to show the picture to our family and friends.
