Cinco Ranch Otters
This year, we decided to step out of our comfort zone and try something new by joining the neighborhood swim team! Logan had a friend who had been encouraging him to join for the past couple of years, and he’d been wanting to give it a shot—so we finally took the plunge.
While it was a fun experience, I think this might be a one-and-done for us. The commitment was intense, with daily early morning practices and weekly swim meets that lasted five hours. On top of that, parent volunteering was required for the entire duration of each meet. It was definitely a great way to experience something different, but given the time demands, I don’t think we’ll be diving back in next summer!
First swim meet! Every single swim meet we had had some sort of weather issue. It was either delayed, rescheduled, or cut short. Everyone said that they’ve never experienced a summer swim like this one with so many weather problems. It definitely was frustrating.
The swim meet went from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM. It is such a long night. They have an hour warm up, and then so many different races, split up by gender, and then separated by all the ages. Swim meets = a long boring night.
The morning after Logan’s first swim meet he was so exhausted that he slept until 2:30 in the afternoon😱! I had to make sure he was still alive at that point.
Then another:
Even though this was Logan’s first year on the swim team and he was still getting the hang of things compared to his more experienced peers, he had an absolute blast swimming with his friends.
