Carson got to go on a week long high adventure scout camp where he canoed 60 miles through the Louisiana swamps.

Carson didn’t say goodbye to me before he jumped in the car, so I had to give him a hard time before he left
Lunch break in Louisiana! For dinner they stopped at a Cajun place where Carson got shrimp tacos and they ordered some alligator for everyone to try🐊 after this trip Carson now loves Cajun food! His favorite was crawfish etouffee.

On the River at last! The first day they paired Carson with the smallest kid and Carson said he did all the work! They were a little behind the group so the next day they rearranged the pairings and after that it was much smoother!
Swimming in the swamp! A Louisiana sheriff came by on a boat and said he was so excited to see the boys having so much fun. The camp guides also said this was the first group they’ve ever seen that still have energy enough to swim after the first day 😆
Taking shelter after a big rainstorm hit. Lasted two hours so they ordered some pizza for the boys.
Said it was some of the most beautiful scenery they’ve ever seen
Got to go on a swamp boat (airboat) ride! I guess they forgot their ear protection at first and after being on the boat for a bit they had to turn around to go get them. It’s very loud!
Carson said they saw about 30 alligators. One particular time they were eating their breakfast on the canoe (MREs) and Carson turned around and saw a 10 alligator right next to them. Sends shivers down my spine.
Day on the island (rest day)
Lots of games were played, mud fights had, and other activities.
Carson’s favorite part of swamp base was the swamp stomp when they had to carry their canoes through the mud.
Carson’s leaders said this: Swamp Base Parents please be proud of your scout today. This adventure was the toughest I have ever been on. We faced challenges all day and all night. This was a story I feel only Mark Twain could tell. Our boys would have been amazing characters in the book.

Thankfully I could be a part of such a journey.
His wife later said that he told her this was the funnest trip he’s ever been on. She seemed jokingly a little offended 😆
Made it back! Carson said it was the hardest, most rewarding and most fun camp he’s ever been too. He loved it. Even though the last 10 minutes he got stung by a wasp. They told them 100% someone will get stung. Carson got nailed on the hand while tying up his boat. They said he handled it like a champ.
