Broadway and Barbie

That’s a wrap! Houston Broadway season 22-23:

*Six

*Pretty Woman

*Jesus Christ Superstar

*Moulin Rouge

*To Kill A Mockingbird

*Ain’t too Proud

Such a great season, with some amazing musical numbers (I mean you can’t go wrong with the Temptations right?), but I think the highlight of the season was Moulin Rouge. Every time the male lead singer sang, I got goose bumps. It was incredible. Even Brad said it was the best play we’ve seen there. Sure love our little date nights and can’t wait for our next season to start!

Next up girls night to the Barbie movie! We all dressed up as career Barbies and I love it! This was so fun and turned out so cute.

From left to right: yoga Barbie, doctor Barbie, Teacher Barbie, physical therapist Barbie, flight attendant Barbie, and President Barbie.

Sure do love this movie! I feel like everyone should watch it. It’s so empowering. My boys have even watched it liked it. Such a good message.

Spirit Wear

Second year designing our elementary schools spirit wear! PTA positions usually are only for 2 years so hoping this is my last. 🤞🏻 but I’m pretty proud of how they turned out.

These are the grade level shirts. Every student and teacher in our school gets them, they are donated by the local orthodontist. The students wear these on field trips. Logan’s grade (3rd) was red! Perks for having mom do it was that he picked the color he wanted. Last year was blue so he had to pick a different color and it was a toss up between red and orange.

Here are the spirit wear designs for the items that are sold to raise $ for other PTA activities.

Selling them at meet the teacher night! Sold out of a lot and had to reorder more. They were a hit! Which makes me relieved.
It’s fun to see the students wear these clothes throughout the year! Makes my heart happy.

First Day of School!

3 kids at 3 different schools. Bring it on, it’s going to interesting… plus I have a high schooler 😭 and Tanner is starting middle school, and Logan is looking so grown up all of a sudden. It’s all the emotions. Praying for a wonderful school year!

Up bright and early to send this one off! Luckily this is really the only day I have to get up this early as he’s packing his own lunches now. Makes my mornings that much easier, but of course I had to see him off on his first day of high school. He’s a little nervous and who can blame him, but he’s going to be great I know it.
But I mean look at this cute little kindergartener that he used to be. I swear it wasn’t that long ago…
To this big high schooler with the teenage attitude. He’s a good kid, and I’m hoping for the best year for him with good friends and not too hard of a schedule…
It would be uncool of a high school mom to wait with him at the bus stop, so I have to secretly watch from the comfort of my porch.

Next up to go is my baby. I can’t believe he’s starting 3rd grade. Half way through elementary. He’s getting so big. I’m not ready for this.

He’s also my one kid who was not looking forward to school starting back up. At all. As he constantly tells us he wishes we were born smart and didn’t have to go to school. It’s not his favorite, but the one thing that makes it somewhat doable is being able to see his friends.

And last but not least my now jr high school kid. Jr high actually starts the latest of all 3 schools, which he loves cuz he can sleep in. Tanner was the one kid who was actually excited for school to start. He was ready to be done with elementary and move onto the big kid school. He also decided to take orchestra and play the cello just like Carson. Brad and I tried to steer him into band but he was insistent. We then tried to have him at least play a different instrument than Carson like the violin or viola, but again he said he really wanted to play the cello. I was worried about the sibling rivalry but so far it’s been good. And we already have a good relationship with the orchestra teachers, so it’s been a great year.
Gish just look at his cute kindergarten picture. Again I’m amazed at how fast time goes and how big they get in just a blink.
He’s ready!
At least he’ll let me see him off at the bus stop. And the other moms whose boys were starting jr high were also there. We haven’t hit the uncool stage yet 😉.

Here’s to the best year!
And then there’s me. My first day didn’t start till after Labor Day, but I started training the week after the boys started school. This job works perfect with the kids schedule (which is why I do it).  I took a different position at work this year since my partner in crime left to be a kindergarten teacher,  so I am now a Lead teacher! Same age group as last year (the older2s), but being the lead teacher won’t be too much different maybe  slightly busier, but I have a great support team with my co-workers. I’m a little nervous about getting a new partner, but confident that it’s going to be a great year! (The 2’s team)

Back to school night

In denial that I’ll have a high schooler and a middle schooler. So proud of my boys and can’t wait to see where there new school adventures take them.

The day after we got back from Utah we had to wake up early and walk Tanners schedule. The bed head was real my friends 😆
Tanner and his best friend since preschool (Jack)
Practicing opening up his locker. I ended up having a lot of parents all new to teach their kids 😆. After all the practicing I don’t think he actually even uses his locker while at school. Oh well.

In front of the orchestra room! Cello here we come!
These neighborhood boys are off to conquer middle school!
Next up, Logan! He seems like he has the nicest teachers. Horrifying for a great year! Can’t believe he’s already half way through elementary school. Wishing time would slow down!
Ms. Clayton (homeroom teacher. Teaches math and science)
Ms. Line (switch teacher. Teaches english and reading)
Carson has a Freshman orientation that lasted half the day, so no pictures of him. Plus he would have gone with his friends anyway. He’s too cool for mom now.

Night before school starts calls for visiting the new ice cream place that just opened up!

Starting new schools we did have some nerves mixed with excitement. I’m excited for them and hope this year goes great!

The way home

I am happy to announce that our trip home this summer was uneventful! After last summers drive home I needed it to be! And as much as it’s nice to be back home we sure do miss it when our Utah summer ends.
Logan loves stopping at Wilson arch to get out and stretch. The other 2 were less than thrilled and just stayed in the car.

And we of course had to stop and see our cousins on the way home. A pool party was a perfect way to stretch and get out of the car! We always have a fun time in Dallas. It’s like the last stop before all the back to school chaos begins.
