(what is written on the family Christmas Card)

This year has been one of both heartache and gratitude for our family. Earlier this year, we lost our dear cousin and niece, Olivia (11).  Her absence is deeply felt, and through our grief, we've been reminded of the preciousness of family and the importance of cherishing each moment together.

Carson turned 16 and is now driving!  He even drove us all the way back home from Utah over the summer, a 1500 mile journey! Tanner, now 14, had a great season playing football and loves the freedom of zipping around on his new e-bike. Logan, 11, is enjoying his last year of elementary school and making the most of every moment before middle school begins. Brad had a big travel year with work, highlighted by an international trip to Malaysia. Emily celebrated her 40th birthday with a special trip with Brad to Sedona and an unforgettable girls' adventure in Banff.

Through all of life's ups and downs, we are thankful for the love and support of family and friends. Wishing you a joyful Christmas and a peaceful new year filled with hope, love, and togetherness.

2021 started out as a continuation of 2020. To start off the year we had the capital riots, Covid was still in the limelight, divisions over the Covid vaccine, we had our Texas freeze, and then our family got Covid! 2021 was not off to a good start. Fortunately though things did mellow out throughout the year and it seemed as though we were getting back to normal.
We escaped to South Padre for spring break (desperately needed after having Covid), we had another fun summer in Utah, and school is back to normal with no masks!
It’s a busy season of life we’re in, with all the kids activities, but it’s a fun one!

10. Enjoyed all the extra family time together this year

2020 has been quite the year!  Covid dominated, but we were lucky enough that it really didn't affect our plans too much.  Our family vacation was in January and we were able to go skiing over spring break just 2 days before the lockdown, and luckily Lake Powell opened up just right before our scheduled vacation so that wasn't canceled either!

It was nice having so much family quality time together and a simpler schedule. Having Brad and the boys doing work and school from home, all extra curricular activities canceled, to spending 2 months in Utah this summer with family.  Technology also made it feel so not alone, with FaceTime with family, to many school zoom calls (I mean seriously who ever heard of zoom before this?  Now it's a household staple) it made this year feel more connected then it could otherwise have.

Even though 2020 was simpler it wasn't without drama because it certainly was a dramatic year!  From obviously the covid unknown, to Black Lives Matter, to the presidential elections.  Always one thing or another dividing the nation.

I think it is safe to say that 2020 will be a year to remember!  Definitely going down in the history books as a year that won’t be forgotten. And with covid still alive and well, it will be interesting to see how 2021 plays out. Here’s hoping 🤞🏻

Also what a perfect post to make as my 1,000th post!

Now that we had our quiet year, we are already planning some fun things for 2017. Carson turns 8, big vacations, and Tanner starting kindergarten.  This year is also going to be the year of the 60's with 3/4 of our parents turning 60 this year and my grandparents will also be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.  Yep 2017 is going to be a great year!
