My Dad

I love my dad very much. He always gives me the best advice when I least expect it. I was trying to call my mom after I just received the news from the Doctor that my baby had died. So I called the house and no one answered so I tried her cell phone next and I was surprised to find that my dad had my mom’s cell for the day. To be honest I was a little disappointed all I wanted to do was to talk to my mom (it’s a mother daughter thing). I told my dad what happened and that I had lost the baby and I’ll never forget what he told me. “Emily before you were born your mother had a miscarriage, and even though it was really hard on the both of us just a few weeks later she conceived again and we had a beautiful baby girl so everything works out the way its supposed too."

Thanks Dad for being so wonderful. What you said has helped me so much while going through this. I love you.

12 Weeks Doctors Appointment

I was really looking forward for my 12 week doctors appointment so I can hear our babies heartbeat. Unfortunately, Brad took the day off before to go to his dentist in Tucson and felt like he shouldn't ask for two days in a row off. So off I was to the doctors office. I went in for my appointment and to my doctors disappointment I had lost a pound. My morning sickness was making it difficult for me to keep anything down so she said if I don't start feeling better I might need to go on some medication to help with my morning sickness.

She got out her machine to listen to the babies heartbeat. This is what I have been waiting for. I was so excited until the doctor was having a hard time finding it. My heart sank. She brought in a sonogram and I was actually able to see the baby this time and the doctor thought she saw the baby move, but still no heartbeat. She immediately had me go to the hospital to get an ultrasound done. I was so nervous. I got an ultrasound done but I could only hear one heartbeat, my heartbeat. I was able to see the baby and was so overcome with emotion. It looked so small and I wanted more then anything for this small baby to be alive, but when the technician asked to do another ultrasound I knew that something was wrong. I asked if he normally does this 2nd ultrasound and he said they do it if they see something or if they don't see something normal. He asked me to change and while in the bathroom I started crying. I knew that this baby had died.

The next morning the doctor called me with the results of the ultrasound. The baby had died at 8 weeks. For whatever reason my body kept thinking I was pregnant which is why I hadn't passed the baby. She said if I hadn't passed the baby in one week then I will have to have surgery to remove the fetus. A week later I went in the hospital for a D&C.
