Blue Bonnets

Its springtime in Texas!  

The Friday during the boys springbreak was Brad's scheduled day off, so we drove down to Chapel Hill to see the beautiful blue bonnets and to grab some BBQ.  It never disappoints!

Blue Bonnets are the Texas state flower so they are illegal to pick, Tanner must have learned this in preschool because he was trying so hard not to step on them!

I just love this time of year in Texas!  The beautiful weather (no humidity!), the vibrant colors, and the blossoming flowers and trees.

Spring Break

We sure had a fun spring break!  We went bowling and laser tag with friends

 Carson went roller blading with his friends.  It was his first time on skates and he did great!

We had a couple park days, but the only picture I got was Tanner playing after soccer practice.

 and we had lots of fun at the Children's museum! 

 We went with some friends and she volunteered to watch the older two so I could take Logan to the baby section for the first time!  He was loving it and I loved having the one on one time with him.

and I had a girls night to see Beauty and the Beast filled with great friends, a darling movie, pizza, and ice cream stuffed dougnuts.  Yum!

Spring break got us excited for summer!  Can't wait!

How Does your Garden Grow?

Carson's school held a 2nd-grade musical called How Does your Garden Grow.  It was a darling production.  

I was a little sad that we seating in the worst possible seats to see Carson.  He was on the right side (we were sitting on the left) and on the bottom row, so we couldn't see him over all the parents heads.

The boy song was the cutest.  It was called Weeds Rule.

Luckily at the end of the production we were able to snap a couple pictures.

Mr. and Mrs. Shafer (who the school is named after)  I love how involved they are with the children at the school and never miss a school function.

Carson was a little nervous at first, but after performing it twice in school (a morning for the younger grades and an afternoon for the older) he said he wasn't nervous anymore.  Proud of this guy!

Da Bears

Basketball season has now ended.  After having a horrible soccer season, we were really looking forward to playing with our neighborhood friends again on our basketball team, only to find out they put Carson on a new team.  It was a little sad to not be with our friends, but he still had kids from his school that he knew so it made the transition easy.  

Our team and some players that were playing for the first time, as well as some players that have played before, so it was fun to see this team grow over the season.

Carson still likes defense the best.

All teams play in the tournament and play against teams who are about the same skill levels from the other divisions.  So even though we weren't at the top of our league we played against other teams that weren't as well.

Our team made it past the first two games in the tournament (winning the game on his birthday) and played in the championship game!  It was a super close game that went into overtime.  We lost by two free throws :(  The score being 49 to 51. They got the second place medal and we were so proud! It was sad to lose such a close game, but at the same time, we were so happy the team got that far!

Already looking forward to watching more games next year!

It's Great to be 8!

My oldest baby is now 8!  Eight! Where has the time gone? Its like the saying says "The days are long, but the years are short" It doesn't seem that long ago that I brought him home from the hospital,   now he's in second grade. Carson has enriched our lives for the better.  He has taught Brad and I so much.  He's taught us how to be parents (something we are always continually learning!), and to love someone so unconditionally.  I never could have imagined that I would one day have such a wonderful son, and I can only imagine what amazing things he will do and accomplish in the future, because at just eight years old, he is already living life to the fullest.  I love this kid, forever and ever.

 We sure had a busy day. The boys and I went to Carson's school to bring him lunch and pass out doughnuts for his class.

 His birthday was almost the exact same as last year.  As soon as he got home from school we opened his presents.  His basketball team once again made it to the championship playoff game so he had another basketball game on his birthday.  Altough this time they won!

After his basketball game he choose once again to go to the Olive Garden (I don't think we've been there since his last birthday).  He loves their breadsticks!

For his birthday party this year we took just a few of his close friends to see the Batman Lego Movie.  Everyone came over to our house for pizza and cake and then we headed over to the movie theater.  Here is Carson opening his presents:

 This was Logan's first movie experience, and I was really hoping he was old enough/ready.  Nope. We lasted about half the movie. 

The boys sure had a great time though!  So glad Carson has such great friends.
