Houston Museum of Natural Science

This Friday Fun Day weekend we went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  I've heard really good things about this museum and was excited to go.  Turns out this museum is one of the top ten most visited museums and it didn't disappoint!

They had a really great paleontology exhibit.  Carson loved looking at all the dinosaur bones.  Tanner was a little intimidated by their size.

The evolution of the human skull...

My favorite part of the museum was the Ancient Egypt exhibit.  When we went to Philadelphia we went to the King Tut exhibition.  It was very disappointing.  They only had one mummy and it wasn't even King Tut, if I remember correctly it was his mother.  This exhibit blew the King Tut one out of the water.  They had so many artifacts as well as quite a few mummies. I find the ancient Egyptian culture fascinating.  I would love to go to Egypt one day.
Carson was so excited to see the mummies until he realized these where real mummies.  Then he got a little scared.  We had to reassure him a few times that they were already dead and not coming back to life.

 A roomful of mummies
Tanner hadn't taken a nap today and we found him like this at one point in the museum, taking a little cat nap.
Another awesome part of the museum was the gem portion.  Carson really liked the crystals, but his favorite would have to be the green kyrptonite (the rock that is Superman's weakness) that he found.
After the museum we went across the street to this beautiful park and rode the train.
It was another fun 3 day weekend at the Clark house.  Love that there is so much to do and see here!
