Timpanogos Cave

Timpanogos Cave! One of the most popular and must do attractions/hikes in northern Utah, and yet I haven’t hiked it since I was a kid even though my grandparents and aunt & uncle literally lived right there.  So I was excited when Kami suggested we take the kids there on a hike. I knew they would love it.
We got there early in the morning and the weather was perfect. It also helped that it was pretty shaded for the hiking up portion. It’s a pretty steep hike, but only 3 miles round trip with gorgeous views and some fun tunnels to hike through. By the time it was time to go down it had warmed up and the trail was no longer shaded,  but it was a quick and easy trip down thank heavens so it took us no time at all and we were able to get down before the kids could start complaining about the heat.

The crew:

The older boys were like mountain goats running up the mountain
The entrance to the cave! (I actually don’t look too short here 😆)
Inside the cave were some remarkable views! It’s also a little chilly and extremely dark. At one point they turned off the lights and you can’t even see your hand in front of your face.
The heart of Timpanogos Cave

It was such a fun adventure!

On the drive back from Timpanogos we received a call that our Grandpa Clark had a massive heart attack. We later found out that it was a “widow maker” and he had 100% blockage. If you have this type of heart attack only 25% of people survive. So we are extremely lucky have him still with us. He had a stint put in and would remain in the hospital for 5 days. Grandma Clark had just left the day before to go on a girls trip to Germany and so all of Brads siblings stepped up to help while she was away.
