More Amsterdam!

Here’s just a photo dump of some pictures of this beautiful city, food, and culture.

Central station 🚉  Gorgeous! Have you ever seen such an amazing train station?!

This picture was taken at our first stop in Amsterdam right after we got off the plane and went straight to the Rijks museum. Even though it was a long day of traveling you can tell I’m excited to start the vacation! It’s the “I’m finally on vacation” adrenaline rush! Although coffee helped too.

Ahh the quintessential picture of Amsterdam. I just fell in love with this city!  

Look how tiny this car is! I could not drive in Europe! Super tiny cars, tiny parking spots, and all the bikers that zoom through the city with zero fear, just seems nightmarish to me!

Love the architecture! But man they have the steepest and tiniest stairs!!  In restaurants it seemed like all the bathrooms were upstairs so you’re constantly risking your life going up and down, but at least you got a good workout!

Yummy treat while exploring

We met this couple in the hotel bar who recommended this place! Amsterdam food isn’t necessarily famous or to die for, but the Indian food is, in large part of the Dutch Indies. We ordered this sampler plate that was amazing. A 12 sampler dish with rice. So good. So if you ever go to the Netherlands try the Indian food!

We took a canal cruise and it was beautiful to see the city all lit up and the house boasts that live on these canals. Note: they are crazy expensive!!

The Royal Palace

The National Monument to commemorate war casualties.

And we couldn’t come to Amsterdam and not take a peek at the red light district 🫣 . Don’t judge!  After all, when in Rome, or in our case, Amsterdam, right? Along the streets, the window shops showcase women in lingerie offering their services. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as scandalous as one might expect – more akin to what you’d see on TV. The atmosphere was rather mundane, with most women in the windows looking bored and engrossed in their phones. It’s undeniably unique, a stark contrast to anything you’d encounter in the US!

And we’re off to a new city to explore! We had such a cool hotel here, I will miss it and this fun city.  Next up, Belgium!
